Poolside Cinco de Mayo at Caravan Swim Club

This Cinco de Mayo, Caravan Swim Club, Steve Livigni’s Baja-inspired restaurant at Hotel June, hosts an afternoon pool party with Tanteo Tequila. Festivities begin at 1 p.m. and include a DJ set, poolside bar service and tequila cocktails available for purchase with the option to choose from a selection of peppers to “pick your kick.” The event is free and open to the public, and spots can be reserved by booking a table at Caravan Swing Club via OpenTable.

Create to Destress Workshop

Friday, May 6

Create personalized embroidered canvas bags as a way to destress while learning about other ways you can help your mental well-being. Artist Carmela Morales will provide a workshop on Fridays during the Month of May in Virginia Avenue Park. These workshops will focus on personalizing a canvas bag using simplified embroidery. Morales will teach participants how to make a simple flower pattern and more. Each class will have a lesson for the first hour and the second hour will be an open workshop that allows for open conversation between people. Plus, mental health professionals will join some of the sessions and speak on mental well-being. The last class will be a final celebration of the completed project.

Marina del Rey Farmers Market

This weekly outdoor event allows Westside residents to support local produce sellers and other vendors. Food from a wide variety of businesses is available for purchase. Masks are required and only 40 people are allowed to shop at any one time. Held in parking lot 11.

Join the Restoration at LAX Dunes Event

Please join The Bay Foundation for their monthly restoration event at the LAX Dunes. Since 2015, The Bay Foundation, Friends of the LAX Dunes and Los Angeles World Airports, along with thousands of volunteers have worked to restore, enhance and protect this unique habitat. Fitness Fest and Conscious Market

Downtown Santa Monica, Inc. in partnership with Fit Girl Club LA is hosting Fitness Fest and Conscious Market on May 7 and June 4 on the Third Street Promenade. The market features a collection of elevated brands and sustainable products from over 50 local and minority-owned businesses with a zero waste and self-care focus. A diverse mix of free fitness classes will be offered during both dates including Ritual Gym, AKT Dance, Circuit Works and more. Participants are encouraged to b ring their own yoga mat, towel and water for maximum enjoyment. Complimentary healthy drinks and snacks will be available for sampling. May 7 will feature stand-up comedy on the Promenade stage from 3 to 6 p.m. Attendance is free but registration is required.

Venice-Marina-LAX Lions Club

The Venice-Marina-LAX Lions Club will host its 17th annual BINGO-barbecue fundraiser at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Doors for the event open at 5:30 p.m., and festivities begin at 6 p.m. Several charitable and youth groups will benefit from the fundraiser including Safe Place for Youth in Venice, Boys and Girls Club of Venice, Westchester Family YMCA, the Airport-Marina Counseling Center, the Bob Hope USO Center at LAX, and Mychal’s Place, a facility that helps children and adults with developmental problems. Tickets for the fundraiser are $70. The fee covers both the dinner and eight games of BINGO. There will also be a silent auction, door prices and a no-host bar.
