Boys & Girls Club of Venice director of operations Armando Diaz has been appointed as associate executive director of the club.

Diaz, who has been at the Boys & Girls Club of Venice since 2002, has been instrumental in the club’s growth by spearheading collaborative partnerships with Venice High School, Short Avenue Elementary School and Coeur d’Alene Avenue Elementary School, where the club conducts after-school programming, club officials said.

He has also been a key figure in representing the club in the expansion of the award-winning sailing program, the club’s Latino Outreach Initiative and its Springboard to Opportunity: Eliminating the Technology Divide for At-Risk Youth Initiative, club officials said.

“The Boys & Girls Club of Venice is a very special place,” Diaz said. “I’m excited to continue our commitment to programming excellence and providing a safe place for the children in Venice and surrounding communities.”

Referring to Diaz’s promotion, club chief professional officer Erikk Aldridge said, “Armando is one of the rising stars in the Boys & Girls movement.

“He has demonstrated time and time again his commitment to the children and families in the community and the supporters of our club.”

A graduate of Franklin High School, Diaz worked in various capacities at the Boys & Girls Club of Hollywood and the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks prior to joining the Boys & Girls Club of Venice. Locally, he serves on several civic and community-based task forces and service organizations.

The Boys & Girls Club of Venice, founded in 1968, annually serves about 4,000 youths.
