An elderly man and woman who were found fatally shot in their Marina del Rey apartment Thursday, July 29 were victims of a murder-suicide, Los Angeles County coroner’s officials confirmed.
The victims, identified by the coroner as Harry Antler, 81, and Mary Jane Sternal, 90, were found dead by a family member at about 1:15 p.m. in their home in the 14000 block of Palawan Way in Marina del Rey, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
The two lived together in the apartment but their relationship was not known, coroner spokesman Ed Winter said.
It was determined that Antler allegedly fatally shot Sternal before turning the gun on himself, Winter said.
The exact circumstances of their death were under investigation. Sheriff’s homicide detectives did not disclose if a suicide note was found.
