The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will begin a series of boating classes in early September in the Marina. Classes are free but there may be a charge for textbooks and other materials.
Classes will include:
Basic seamanship, a four-week “American Boating Course,” class recommended for first-time boaters begins Wednesday, September 1st; presented by Division 12, Flotilla 01, 7:30 p.m. South Coast Corinthian Yacht Club, 13445 Mindanao Way; to enroll, (310) 645-1150.
Basic Skills and Seamanship, an eight-week course covers key aspects of powerboat and sailing, begins Tuesday, September 7th; presented by Division 12, Flotilla 04; 7 p.m., Del Rey Yacht Club, 13900 Palawan Way, to enroll, (310) 968-0707.
Basic Coastal Navigation, a seven-week course on coastal navigation, such as reading a compass and plotting courses begins Monday, September 13th, presented by Division 4, Flotilla 02, . 7:30 p.m., California Yacht Club, 4469 Admiralty Way; to enroll, (310) 392-5842.
